This paper was written based on the 1979-1987 fishery resources investigations in inland water areas of Shandong Province. The 39 species of shellfishes collected in the investigation belonged to 9 families and 25 genera. The total production of freshwater shellfish resources was 238423.5 t. Suggestions for rational utilization and protection of shellfish resources are presented in the paper.
