摘要:The siphonaceous genus Udotea is a group of widely distributed tropical algae, although one species extend its distribution to subtropical regions. Since the monographic study of this genus by A. and E. S. Gepp in 1911, only new species ( U. sublittoralis Taylor 1928) and one new variety (U. palmetta var. marshallensis Dawson,1957) have been added to the genus. Gilbert (1962) described from Hawaii Udotea (?) abbreviate Gilb. which is, however, non-calcified and Flabbelaria in structure, and is better transferred to that genus, becoming F.abbreviata comb.nov.
In April to May, 1957 and March to June 1958, the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica, sent two collecting groups to the Xisha Islands of the Guangdong Province, these being coral islands in the central South China Sea, and 113 nos. of Udotea spp. were collected. A preliminary analysis of these specimens showed that the Xisha Udotea flora is very rich, and the six new species described in this paper are only a part of it. The specimens studied including the type specimen are all deposited in the harbarium of the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica at Qingdao.
摘要:The present report is based upon two collections of seaweeds by the members of the Institute of Oceanology in 1957 and 1958 from the Xisha Islands--a group of South China Sea coral islands located about 170 miles southeast from Yulingkang of the Hainan Island, between 15°46'and 17°8'N, and 110°11' and 112°54' E.
The algal flora of these coral islands is very imperfectly known. In their report on the Chinese species of Dictyosphaeria by Tseng and C. F. Chang (1962), four species including one new species D. spinifera were from Xisha Islands. In his study of the distribution of Chinese Siphonocladales, Fan (1963) listed 14 species including these four species.
In the present paper twenty species belonging to ten genera and four families are reported, of which six species including two new species are recorded for the first time from Xisha Islands.
摘要:Family SIDERASTREIDAE Vaughan and Wells 1943
Genus Xishasiderastrea gen. nov.
Type species Xishasiderastrea sinensis sp. nov.
Massive, cerioid colonies formed by intra- and extratentacular budding. Corallites polygonal, crowded. Corallite walls well defined, formed by synapticular rings. Columella absent.
The new genus closely resembles Siderastrea, but it is easily distinguishable from the latter by the absence of columella.
摘要:The present study is based on material collected from the Xisha Islands,South China Sea. A total of sixty-one species is identified, belonging to 45 genera in 16 families, of which 43. species are recorded for the first time from Chinese waters and one is new to science.
摘要:Several scientific investigations carried out by the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica during 1956-1958 on the Xisha Islands reveal that these islands harbor a rich molluscan fauna which is heretofore poorly investigated. A study of the prosobranchiate gastropoda yielded 262 species, belonging to 95 genera and 43 families. The majority of the species are tropical in nature. An analysis of the species composition of this molluscan fauna indicates that it is similar to that of its neighbouring regions, such as Malaya, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is characteristic of the tropical Indo-Malayan Subregion.
Based on materials collected along the Chinese coasts during the past 20 years or more, we are able to note the limits of distribution of each species listed in this paper. Of the 262 species, 44 species [e.g., Trochus conus Gmelin, Astralium petrosum Martyn, Phalium bandatum Gmelin, Harpa nobilis R?ding and Terebra chlorata Lamarck etc.] are found only in Xisha Islands; 147 species [e.g,Haliotis asinina Linnaeus, Trochus niloticus maximus (Philippi), Lambis lambis Linnaeus etc.] are found also in Hainan Island; 194 species [e.g., Turbo petholatus Linnaeus, Lambis truncata sebae (Kiener), Chlypypraea testudinaria(Linnaeus), Charonia tritonis (Linnaeus), Mitra mitra (Linnaeus) etc.] are also reported from Taiwan Province;33 species, [e.g., Tectus pyramis (Born), Nerita costata Gmelin, Polynices pyriformis(Recluz), Cypraea vitellus Linnaeus, Oliva ispidula Linnaeus, and Conus textile Linnaeus etc.] are found also in the coastal waters of Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces ; Only 7 species viz. Scutus sinensis (Blaiville), Patella stellaeformis Reeve, Clanculus denticulatus Gray, Nerita albicilla (Linnaeus), Cerithium sinenes (Gmelin), Mauritia arabica(Linnaeus) and Drupa margariticola (Broderip) may be found as far north as Pingtan and Dongshan in Fujian Province.
摘要:The present paper deals with 42 species of Opisthobranchia (Moll.) belonging to 25 genera and 14 families. Of these, 2 species are regarded as new to science and 19 species are recorded for the first time from China.
The material for study was based on the collections made by the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica, during the period from 1956-58.
摘要:The present paper is the first part of a report on the crabs of the Xisha Islands collected by the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica during 1956 1958. A total number of 276 specimens of crabs was examined. Thirty-two species belonging to 22 genera and 10 families were identified. Of these, nine species (with asterisk) are recorded for the first time from China.
摘要:The present paper deals with the Stomatopod Cructacea collected from the Xisha Islands by the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica, during1956~1958. Seven species belonging to 2 families and 3 genera are identified. 0f these, one is new and 6’are recorded for the first time .from Chinese waters.
摘要:In March to May, 1958, The present author had the opportunity to join the collecting party of the Institute of Oceanology, Academia Sinica, and had paid special attention to the fresh specimens of many echinoderms. This paper deals with the species of the Holothurioidea. A total of 425 specimens of holothurians were studied and 41 species belonging to 3 orders, 5 families and 16 genera were identified. Of these one species is new to science and 14 species are new additions to the fauna of China.
A list of the species is given on pages 199-200, in which those marked with an asterisk are species recorded from China for the first time.
