The present paper is a result of a study on the seasonal distribution of Sciaenoid fishes, which arc the interesting material for fish fauna study, and some of them are the most irnportont food fishes in China. Monthly samples of Sciaenoid fish, Pseudosciaena crocea, P. polyactis, Miichthys miiuy, Collichtys lucidus, Atrobucca nibe, Johnius belengerii, Wak tingi, Nibea albiflora, N. diacanthus, Argyrosomus argentatus,A. macrocephalus, were caught with double draggers from 45 different locations at Lat. 27°30'N to 31°30'N in marine sanctuaries off Zhejiang during March 1960—Febuary 1961. Total annual catch of 11 species of Sciaenoid fishes makes up about 33% of the total catch of 220 species. Catches of all these Sciaenoicl fishes have ,a seasonal variation in this area, some of them owing to spawning migration were high in spring and low in winter, such as Pseudosciaena crocea, P. polyactis, Miichthys miiuy etc. The seasonal change of sea water temperature is reflected on the seasonal change in species number and abundance of the Sciaenoid fishes, such as Atrobucca nibe,Nibea diacanthus, Wak tingi etc.
