CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HEATING ANOMALY OF THE NORTHWESTERN PACIFIC SUBTROPICAL AREA IN WINTER AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE SUBTROPICAL HIGH
Empirical orthogonal function analysis of the marine heating anomaly pattern over the Northwestern Pacific subtropical area in winter and the relationships between the first three patterns of the marine heating anomaly and the Subtropical High showed that the first component in winter was mainly characterised by large positive values in most areas, and had some effects on the Northwestern Pacific Subtropical High and that the lst component's time coefficients related closely to the Northwestern Pacific Subtropical High in winter, spring and the early summer. The more (less) the marine heating over the subtropical area was, the more the Subtropical High weakened (enhanced) and shifted southward (northward) and eastward (westward).
